DesignIT - bridges the gap between Computer Aided Design and the practical building process!
DesignIT
combines a computer design programme with a high quality, small-scale, wooden construction kit. It is a simple introduction for children to Computer Aided Design. DesignIT encourages computer literacy, develops complex manual dexterity and progressive logical thinking in a fun and challenging way. The hardwood parts are machined to very high specifications that allow them to be held together by wooden pins, taken apart and re-used.
The computer programme has 4 main functions:
- Construction: leads you step by step through the construction of a model.
- Model Building: select a model, study it and then build it on-screen without using the kit.
- Game Facility: build a model on-screen by selecting the correct parts against the computer clock.
- Model Design: allows you to design your own model and then build it from the kit.
DesignIT introduces children to modern methods of design (CAD) whilst encouraging creativity and technological skills. The CD is PC compatible for all Windows programmes, includes a user manual and first years site licence and is presented in a sturdy plastic box with hinged lid.
